The Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca was founded based on the wish of deceased Oaxacan painter Rufino Tamayo. The museum (MACO) was established by artist Francisco Toledo in a historical and magnificent building, and offers expositions of international quality. It has collections of ceramics, sculpture, photography, graphic design, and painting. The museum offers the ease of conducting other activities that help finance their projects and research. As the areas are very spacious, they can be rented for other efforts, as long as the artistic and cultural activities are not affected. The MACO  is located along the touristic walking street (Andador) and is one of the most important stops on a tour though the city.
