This is an appreciated temple for the people of Morelia because it is the home of an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe and its gorgeous interior contrasts with other religious buildings in the city.
Its construction began in 1708 and was completed in 1716 as part of the monastery of Dieguinos.
At the viceregal age, the sanctuary was on the outskirts of Valladolid, so in 1732, they started to built a pedestrian road The Calzada Fray Antonio de San Miguel, which will take you directly to the church.
