The Martyrs Plaza of January 2 (Plaza de los Mártires del 2 de enero) is the main garden in the City of León.

Formerly known as Plaza de la Constitución it was renamed after an unfortunate event during which many people lost their lives against the troops of Gen. Bonifacio Salinas, who were expressing their disagreement with elections that were considered fraudulent.

In 2010, during a ceremony to honor the fallen, the mayor of León, Ricardo Sheffield Padilla, announced the upcoming creation of a museum dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of January 2, 1946.

Today, this rectangular garden is characterized by its beautiful gazebo and carefully carved trees.

Bordered by the streets Pino Suarez, Juarez, 5 de Febrero, and Francis I. Madero it is framed by three neoclassical portals which are home to numerous businesses: hotels, restaurants, jewelry stores, clothing and footwear, among others, and the City Hall of Leon.

A few steps from the garden is the Plaza de los Fundadores, the Diego Rivers House of Culture, and the Fountain IV Centenario of Fountain of the Lions.
