The Fountain IV Centenario, best known as the Fountain of Lions, was placed in the Plaza Fundadores in 1976, which marked the fourth centenary of the founding of the city of Leon, Guanajuato.

Made of quarry, it is crowned by a shell supported by four lions lying down, each lion symbolizes a century.

It was designed by architect and sculptor Ricardo Motilla Moreno, known as the creator of the monumental sculpture of Martyr San Sebastian located at the entrance of the Museum of Art and History of Guanajuato at the Guanajuato Cultural Forum.
