The Guanajuato Cultural Forum is considered the best center of its kind in the city of Leon, Guanajuato. Located on the Prolongación Calzada de los Héroes No.308, it is a cultural complex with space for artistic and cultural training where exhibitions, forums, performances, and various activities are performed for the public.

The Guanajuato Cultural Forum project was funded by the Federal and State governments and by private initiative. Its first areas, Library and Academic Unit, was inaugurated on September 7, 2006, the Museum of Art and Guanajuato History in July 2008 and it is in the process of building the Opera Theatre, the first theater for opera performance in 100 years in Mexico.
Its 9 hectares were designed by American architect Chien Chung Didi Pei, who included a set of beautiful spaces with gardens and fountains called Calzada de Las Artes, around the building.

The Bicentennial Theater opened on December 7, 2010 at the Guanajuato Cultural Forum. The Bicentennial Theater is an art venue located in an area of 12,300 m2 with 21,481 m2 surface of total construction on five levels.

Designed by the firm Augusto Quijano Architects with the highest standards of quality, acoustics, architecture, and mechanical and theatrical stage lighting, this theater is one of the most modern in Latin America. It is the first theater in the world that contains a resonance speaker with surround sound!

In addition to the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, the Bicentennial Theatre is the first theater to be built in Mexico in almost one hundred years with the architectural features of a theater reminiscent of the Golden Age theaters with a Horseshoe traditional plan of an appreciation of sound and being in close proximity with the actors.

The State Central Library boasts cutting edge technology and has the capacity to serve up to 2,400 users per day.
The 8 rooms are: General Room, Consultation Room, Children´s Room, Special Collections Room, Braille Room, Internet Room, Audiovisual Room and Periodicals Room.

All activities are free of charge to the public: Specialized workshops in book restoration, diagnosis and valuation, interlibrary loan, and reservation of books.

The Guanajuato Cultural Forum services are as follows: Wigbert Jimenez Moreno Guanajuato State Library, academic unit for culture and arts of Leon (it provides career of Art and Culture at the University of Guanajuato, its academic offers: Bachelor of Culture and Arts, the first of its kind in Latin America, graduate courses, workshops, seminars, and courses); Museum of Art and History of Guanajauto of the Guanajuato Cultural Forum, Forum Theater, Bicentennial Theater.
