The Monument to the Martyrs of Ixtapan is located in the Plaza of the Martyrs of the main garden just behind the cybernetic fountain of the City of Ixtapan of La Sal.  It opened in September 1956 and honors the Ixtapenses that fell on August 10, 1912 during a battle that opposed the Zapatista forces. Each year, a ceremony and official stands guard to remember this historical event of the municipality.
