The Palacio de Gobierno keeps a great story. In its interior wandered the governors of New Galicia as well as figures like Miguel Hidalgo who issued here the decree to abolish the slavery and Benito Juarez, when he moved the seat of the federal government to Guadalajara and that in this place was almost killed in 1858.
The land where it was built belonged to the family of the architect Martin Casillas and the Palacio began to be used in 1650 although it was a  modest place and made of adobe. With the 1750 earth tremor, the building collapsed and long after the governor of New Galicia, Jose de Basarte, commanded to  build a new building.
Made with golden stone of Huentitan, the building retains a baroque style and inside it you can admire one of the best murals of Jose Clemente Orozco.
It is located at 43 Corona street at the Historic Center.
