This church was built in 1904 by Jaliscan architect Hermenegildo Lepe. The San Jose Garden is located on one side, with a particular corner known as the "El Pocito Santo or  Charco de la Higuera" meaning “Holy Well or The Fig Tree Pond.” Previously, there was a spring here.
