It is one of the most important museums of Colima, and details the history from the pre-Hispanic days until post revolutionary times. One of its most interesting exhibits is a full-scale reproduction of a Tyre tomb that exemplifies the system of pre-Hispanic burial practiced in the region. The archeological exhibit rooms are themed: Mesoamerica and the West, Volcano and material culture, the ritual of death, fantastic Zoology, self-representation and identity, the past as root. The history exhibit halls are themed: The earth, sea, sky, silk, iron, the blanket.  The Museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.  There is a small entrance fee, with Sundays being free.  The museum offers special exhibits, educational workshops, summer courses, assessorship, 40 min guided tours, coat check, and tours for school groups.
