The Sagrario Metropolitano is located on the right side of the Metropolitan Cathedral. There isn’t any area part of the Sanctuary which has not been worked on. Its decoration includes mantels filled with niches of capricious shapes and countless cherubs. It represents the height of the Baroque style that was enormously popular when the church was built between 1749 and 1760. This was the work of the Andalusian architect Lorenzo Rodriguez, and it was built with red lava rock and white quarry. There are sculptures of the twelve apostles and the twelve prophets in each of its stipe columns (pilaster in the shape of a truncated inverted pyramid which be highly complex).
