Between the streets of San Ildefonso and Jesus Maria, you arrive at the beautiful Plaza Loreto that is surrounded by trees and shops which offer clothes, antiques, candies, toys, handicrafts, and more. From the park, the impressive dome atop the Iglesia de Loreto can be seen, which sits just a few steps from the Plaza. Built between 1809 and 1816, this church is a striking example of neoclassical Mexican style and is characterized by the purity of its lines and the use of classical elements. The church’s design is attributed to Manuel Tolsa.  It is noteworthy that in recent years, the subsoil of the site has led to the collapse of part of the temple.  Even though the damage has been controlled, it is easy to notice that the Church looks and feels tilted when you’re inside.
