The House of Tithing is one of the most important civil works of architecture and the most beautiful of the city. This historical property boasts architecture of the late seventeenth century in the Baroque style. It was built by the soldier who came with Hernán Cortés, Hernán Pérez Bocanegra, who was also clerk at the end of the conquest.
The family bought the title of Marquis in the year 1616 and decided to remodel the house to make it comfortable. There, the collection of the tithe was paid to the Church.

Today it is a Museum and the Municipal Historical Archive and one of the places of the House of Art and Culture of Celaya.
