AttractionThe City of CampecheCampeche

Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, Campeche is a typical example of one of the  walled cities which rose up during the time of the Spanish Conquest. The historic downtown has preserved its buildings and bastions, which were designed to defend this Caribbean port that suffered pirate attacks by the sea in the 17th century. Campeche is now considered a model Baroque Colonial city, as it retains much of its original architecture intact and the original routes of the streets in the center of the city. It is a region rich in culture, architecture, archaeological sites, restaurants, museums and places for eco-tourism. You can take tours through the Maya World, Colonial Cities, haciendas and ecological areas. And whatever the choice, the capital, San Francisco Campeche, is always the starting point. This small town in the Gulf of Mexico has grown considerably in recent years, modernizing and integrating its services for tourism and business travel, and offering the newly opened Convention Center where you can organize conferences and events of all kinds. And before you leave, don’t forget to obtain one of the beautiful crafts as a souvenir, such as the woven straw products, hammocks and sweet fruit preserves. Campeche is the “preferred destination.”
