The cultivation of the vine in Mexico came in 1524 at the beginning of the conquest when Hernán Cortés imported European vines which the Jesuit missionaries were responsible for planting. Located to the North of the State of Baja California, 100 miles from Tijuana, the Valle de Guadalupe is the most important wine region of Mexico, generating on average 90% of national production.
The Fiesta de la Vendimia is one of the annual events organized by the Provino Committee together with the winemakers of the region to promote the wines of Baja California and viticulture activity among all persons who directly or indirectly have contact with the wine.
The 21st annual Fiesta de la Vendimia will be held in Ensenada, Tijuana and other cities in the State, from August 5 to 21, featuring more than 40 events including wine and cheese tasting, wine and gastronomic pairings, musical evening, an auction of unique wines, among others.
