The remodeling and rehabilitation of the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta began yesterday, Monday, May 16, 2011, at dawn.
This project comes from tourism planning studies conducted by the National Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR), and is part of the “tourism development programs for the State of Jalisco.” This initiative involves actions and investment projects and a comprehensive vision for the short, medium and long term that position the tourist destinations and products into national and international markets.
The actions relating to the “Tourist Management of the Historical Center of Puerto Vallarta” were conducted in collaboration with FONATUR, the State Government of Jalisco and the City of Puerto Vallarta.
New image of the Malecon to the Pan American Games
As reported by the mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz, the renovations completed on 15 September, therefore the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta will be ready to present its new image for the Pan American Games that start in October.
The works consist of the following:
Construction of storm drains,
Reconstruction of retaining wall,
Change the current stamped concrete floor for natural colonial stone,
Construction of two lanes for vehicular traffic,
Extension of the sidewalk.
There will be federal and local resources, which will be provided through the program Zofemat 2011.
